Neon 2nd Birthday

Monday, July 30th, 2012

For Adelaide’s second birthday we decided to wait and have a party for her while we were in Oklahoma. It was at my parents house and was mostly all family. It was fun to celebrate with family members who love loving on our little gal.

We decided on a neon theme. I made some of the decorations in advance and brought them with us and others we made the night before. I had lots of help with the hats, streamers, and pinata. Cant believe my baby is two.

Neon streamers from this tutorial.

The birthday goodies.

Neon dip dyed utensils. I ordered plain wood utensils and painted the bottoms in neon colors.

Party hats for the boys. (Made from this tutorial)

And party hats for the girls. (Made from this tutorial)

A simple neon birthday banner for the cake.

Neon drinks with paper stripey straws.

A was a big fan of those yummy drink.

We just had to get pictures of all of us wearing those fun party hats.

After swimming it was time for cake. The frosting is A’s favorite part.

Blowing out her candles.

A surprise burst of neon.

Showing off the colors.

After cake, it was time for the pinata. (Mostly made by my brother following this tutorial)

A was the first one up.

Then the adults jumped in and it was quickly destroyed.

After a very successful party we snapped a few more pictures with the giant neon balloons. Cause obviously they are great photo props.

Thanks so much to my family for making it such a special day. And clearly, thanks to Jordan for all her amazing tutorials.

Birthday: Thirty

Friday, July 27th, 2012

Our last night in Cancun was Josh’s 30th birthday. We switched hotels and had one glorious day and night at the Ritz Carlton (spoiled, I know). We checked in, enjoyed a welcome cocktail on our blconey, swam in the insanely crystal clear ocean (somehow the ocean in front of the Ritz was so much better than our previous hotel), enjoyed the pool, went for a walk on the beach and then spent a little more time in that ridiculous water. We finished the day with an amazing dinner at Harry’s. It was seriously one of the best meals of my life. It was the perfect las day in Cancun and the perfect way to celebrate the life of one amazing husband and father. I am so thankful for him.

The view from our balcony.

Welcome drinks. Thanks Ritz.

The birthday boy.

Not pretty at all. Okay fine, I actually wanted to take that water home.

Cant get enough of that handsome face.

They set that meat on our table and walked away. What?

Josh’s octopus ceviche. Yum.

Feeding my artichoke obsession.

Sunset.

Birthday cake.

Is there a better way to end a meal than with complimentary cotton candy? I think not.

Thank you Harr’y for a delicious meal and thank you Cancun for being beautiful and giving us a much needed vacation. And happy 30th birthday and 5 years of blissful marriage to my love:)

Sewing: commission projects

Monday, July 23rd, 2012

We are back!! And had an incredible and amazing time! I have lots of fun posts to share but in the meantime I will leave you with a sewing post!

Recently I was contacted to make a few different things for some friends. I love working on new things and I love a challenge so they were both a blast to make.

The first was a shirt for a little guy’s first birthday party. The theme was giraffe’s. It turned out so cute:)

And the second was a vest for a little guy for wedding where he was the ring bearer. I have never made a vest and was not sure where to begin. I decided to start by making a pattern (my first!) and go from there. And it turned out pretty well.

And fit the little guy perfect. Hooray!

And then she turned two.

Wednesday, July 4th, 2012

My little munchkin turned two. What! We had a fun day celebrating. And now we are in Oklahoma where we had a little bday party for her and are having a blast hanging out with family. On A’s birthday she woke up and opened her presents right away. They had been sitting on the counter for several days. I kept telling her that she could not open them until her birthday so when I got her out of bed and told her it was her birthday she immediately ran to the pile of presents. She was a happy birthday girl.

I sewed the 2 on a shirt I got from Target and made the flower headband from this tutorial.

We had breakfast with Josh before he headed to work. Minnie pancake!

Then we went to the park and played with friends.

After her nap we met more friends for cupcakes. I made the party hats from this tutorial.

Babies are even cuter in party hats.

Adelaide opened more presents!

And we sang happy birthday to the TWO birthday girls. She has a birthday twin.

Chocolate cupcake and we ended the day with two of her favorite things. Swimming and her pacifier. Together.

This girl has brought so much excitement and joy to our lives. She is full of energy and personality and keeps us on our toes. We love watching her grow. Happy 2nd birthday love!
