Sewing: Top Refashion
Wednesday, June 27th, 2012
Another finished refashion. This was originally one of my tops. It had three ruffles. I took one of them off, took in the sides and reapplied the straps to make a small shirt for A. I would still like to make her a skirt out of the rest of the top. One step at a time.

There is no way I am getting posed shots these days so I am embracing capturing these new outfits in their everyday use.

Trains and Giants
Monday, June 25th, 2012
A couple weekends ago we went to our first Giants game with some friends. We took the train up, which had to be the kids favorite part. And they did great at the game too. The weather was beautiful and the stadium is great. Its pretty great watching a sporting event in which you are also staring at a beautiful bay. We cant wait for the next game.

The train is coming!

Buddies.

Our view.

She obviously was not into the game but found lots of other ways to stay entertained.

I cant help but post these adorable videos of the girls loving the train ride:

Sewing: maxi dress
Sunday, June 17th, 2012
I finally decided to try and sew something for myself. I think it might be the first time ever. I used this tutorial and made several adjustments along the way. I wanted a more permanent band around the middle rather than one you tie. I bought the v-neck tee at Target and used 1.5 yards of fabric I found on sale at Joann’s. I am very happy with how it turned out. Its a great way to jump on board the maxi dress trend for cheap!

Sewing: summer clothes refashion
Thursday, June 14th, 2012
I have been busy sewing instead of blogging:) With an ever increasing pile of my old clothes to get rid of I decided to make Adelaide a summer wardrobe out of them. I have been working my way through the pile little by little.

This is what I started with.
And now for the first reveal:

I snapped these photos on our way to the mail box. Its tough to get this girl to stand still. For the first outfit I was attempting to refashion one of my button up shirts into a dress. I roughly used this tutorial. I attempted sleeves but it did not work out so I took them off. I also ended up making the dress way too tight so went back in and added the solid teal pieces at the sides with leftovers from the tshirt above. I actually really like how that turned out. On the original shirt there was a bow at the collar that I removed and sewed to the back of the dress to use as a tie around the waist.

Cherishing the sickness
Wednesday, June 13th, 2012
Adelaide has had a fever the past few days and as much as it’s sad seeing my baby uncomfortable I am seriously cherishing these snuggly moments with her. She is just not herself which means she is cuddling, snuggling, falling asleep in my lap, and requesting I be by her side at all times. She is just too precious and these moments are all too rare so I am going to get back to enjoying them before she is back to bouncing off the walls.

She wanted me to sit hear her and hold her hand while she was watching her cartoon. Then she feel asleep.

Just layin’, watchin’. And then sleepin’.

Cant get enough. I cant imagine having a kid that does this all the time.

Vacation: Los Angeles
Tuesday, June 5th, 2012
We decided pretty last minute to take advantage of Josh having an extra day of work and headed to Los Angeles to visit my sister for Memorial Day weekend. I was a little worried about the drive, and even though we hit some traffic both directions, it really was not bad. A did great (mostly thanks to the ipad).
We headed down Friday afternoon arriving just in time for the 10pm showing of Moonrise Kingdom. If you remember, I was so excited to see it and it did not disappoint. Defiantly my favorite Wes Anderson film thus far.

We spotted a double rainbow on the drive down.

We saw the film at the Arclight where they had the main characters costumes on display.
My sister was pretty busy so we had some time to explore on our own. On Saturday we headed to The Griddle Cafe for breakfast. Then we went to Santa Monica where we explored the beach, pier, aquarium, and shops. And I spotted Natalie Portman. Bonus! We ended the day at Wurstkuche, Josh’s favorite restaurant in LA, for dinner.

We ordered the espresso and chocolate chip pancakes. Not as intense as these, but still good.

Santa Monica boardwalk.

Entertainment.

Adelaide thought it was great to bury her monkey in the sad.

Josh went crazy this time and ordered the rattlesnake and rabbit. Not bad.

Pre dinner photo shoot.

On Sunday we spent the day helping Mariana on the project she was filming for. Ill share more about it later. But mostly it involved a lot of painting. We took a break in the middle of the day to meet some friends for lunch in Marina Del Rey. You cant beat eating a meal while staring at the ocean.

Adelaide loved helping paint and even went in for a quick taste.

A sneak peak at the result of a long days work.
Monday we grabbed some breakfast sandwiches then wandered around little Tokyo before heading home.

We picked up this adorable kids book for A.

After a fun, long weekend Adelaide and her monkey were in need of a nice long car nap.
