New Toy

Monday, November 29th, 2010

Adelaide got a new toy. Her great aunt Gail made her a fun little green octopus. He is the perfect size and has eight legs that are easy to grab and get in her mouth. And he has a great big smile. Who wouldn’t want to play with a smiling octopus? He is becoming a fast favorite of little baby A’s.

Meet Octopus.

Playing with Octopus. She is trying to coerce him closer.

Now she is talking to him. They are friends.

Now she is yelling at him. I guess he was not doing what she wanted. Poor Octopus.

Now she got distracted and is just being cute.

The end.

5 Months

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

Guess who is 5 months old TODAY! Yup, little baby A. Already? I know. Crazy. Of course she had her photo shoot. She is getting bigger. Longer for sure and starting to get a little belly and face chub. Its pretty cute. She is still moving all the time. Rolling all over the place and recently really into her arms and legs. She will hold her arm straight out and admire her hands and now grabs her feet alot attempting to get them in her mouth or just admiring them as well. She is also really into touching everything particularly our faces. She is always trying to grab my nose or stick her hands in my mouth. And she opens her mouth alot. When she sees her pacifier or when anything brushes against her face or really is near her face at all, she will open that mouth real wide. She continues to be a laid back, flexible pleasant child. She is now slightly more smiley than pensive. I guess the concerns of this world are no longer so important:) Not when there are so many fun things to play with and chew on. She is a goober that we love!

Mouth wide open.

Lovin those legs.

Its finally here!

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

I have been attempting to open my Etsy store back up for awhile but I guess having a baby and moving across the world doesn’t leave one with a whole lot of free time. But now that we are settled in I am ready to make stuff! My shop Amilee is now officially open for business. I am having fun being creative and making new pieces. Check it out!!

Laughter

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Laughter is a beautiful thing. And so much fun when your baby girl starts getting the hang of it. Little A has started laughing. She is very smiley but it takes a bit of work to get her laughing. I am actually no good at it. I try, but she does not seem to find me funny. Josh is much better at making her laugh and apparently aunt Mariana is very funny. While visiting she was able to get A chuckling. Below are two links to her laughing. She is so much fun.

Josh making A laugh.

A laughing at aunt Mariana.

And, I might as well throw a picture in while I’m at it. I just switched A’s stroller from the bassinet to the seat and today was her first outing in the new configuration. She seemed to enjoy being able to see out better, although she spent most of the time just staring at me. And now that she is not so hidden away, she makes even more friends on the street, in the grocery store, etc. Who wouldn’t want to be friends with that cute face.

Mobile

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

Last week I spent an afternoon making a fun mobile for A’s room. It was an easy project and I had a lot of fun making it. I have been missing having my craft things handy. Honestly I have been missing my wonderful designated craft space that I had at our house in Salt Lake City. It made working on small projects so easy. And since we moved, I have not had an easy way to organize, put, or do any crafts. So when Mariana was here she gave me a fun mobile making kit that she had bought in London and I jumped on the opportunity to make an easy fun craft. This is also the first time that baby A has a “room” so I have been doing small things here and there to decorate it and make it feel more like a nursery-and what is more perfect than a mobile for a nursery. So, here it is. How to make a mobile:
Get a kit. It would also be really easy to just get fun colored paper and do the same thing.

I walked down to the park and found this perfect stick. Then painted it. I would have liked to paint it a brighter color but was limited by my 4 color options. It works.

Cut out the birds.

Fold all the birds.

Tie the birds with string to the branch and ta-da an easy, fun mobile.

We finally got A a crib yesterday and are going to do some rearranging in our apartment. We are moving baby into a darker, quieter room in hopes that she will sleep better. Once we finish I’ll post pics of her new room and the apartment.

Rollin

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

Thats what Adelaide is doing these days. Alot of rolling. She is pretty good at rolling from her back to belly and getting better and better everyday at rolling from her belly to her back. This means she is all over the place and no longer stays on her play mat. Its fun watching her explore. She is particularly fond of watching herself in the play mat mirror and chewing on the tags of the play mat.

Click on this link to watch a fun video of when she first started rolling over. It used to take her awhile to get her arm free once she rolled over. The video also includes some sneezing and some high pitched talking. Fun!

All over the place. This time she is trying to eat the velcro on the mirror.

Month Four

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

And I thought month three came fast. Month four seriously speed by. Granted we were moving to a new country and doing a ton things in that process but I have  no idea where the time went. During month four A has been talking more. She started a new high pitched babble which makes me wonder if she is trying to communicate with sea life. She sounds like a dolphin. She has also perfected the roll over. She is a pro from back to belly and is even getting pretty good at going back to her back. She rolls off our small living room rug rather often. She is also learning to play better on her belly. This is nice for me, so that I dont have to constantly turn her back over once she is on her belly. She tries to put EVERYTHING in her mouth. Apparently everything is tasty. Her fist is still her favorite though. Poor girl has been trying for over a month and still has not been able to fit it in her mouth. She has also started laughing. Josh can really get her to chuckle. Apparently I’m not very funny as I cant seem to get her to laugh much. Aunt Mariana, on the other hand, is VERY funny. (hopefully i’ll get some videos up soon)

We are working on her sleep patterns. She seems to be fitting into the Spanish lifestyle pretty well and has been sleeping from about Midnight to 11am (dont get too excited; she wakes up usually twice in there to eat). We are working on getting her up earlier and to bed earlier as I am usually falling asleep before her. Hopefully we will have a great sleeper and napper soon.

She is still a tiny little gal wearing size 0-3months clothes but she does seem to be SLOWLY getting bigger. We have a doctor’s appointment (our first in Spain) next week and I am excited to see how much she weighs (im going to have to get good at my pound/kilo conversion before then).

All in all 4 month baby A is lots of fun and treating us well. We are growing rather fond of her:)

And thanks to a WONDERFUL visit from Aunt Mariana, we have some great 4 month photos. Enjoy.

Double fist.

Eating anything and everything.

Belly time.

Naked time.

So big.

And so excited.

Thats a smile that will melt your heart.
